Despite limited resources and minimal governmental support, producers like Leodan are proving that Peru is capable of producing truly exceptional coffees. Historically, many quality lots from this region have been blended and sold at low prices, offering little incentive for farmers to invest in quality improvements. Thankfully, the tide is turning.
Sourced through Nordic Approach and their exporting partner Origin Coffee Lab, this certified organic lot stands out for its clarity and complexity. Leodan, who comes from a background of traditional farming, is part of a new wave of producers elevating Peruvian coffee through careful cultivation and processing.
With a quality score of 87 points, this is one of Calendar Coffee’s standout coffees of the year.
