The Story Behind Terence & The Machines — Rumudamo Edition

This lot comes from the Rumudamo Washing Station, perched high in the Arbegona area of Sidama — one of the most prized coffee-growing regions in Ethiopia. About 600 smallholder farmers deliver their cherries here, each working small plots averaging less than five hectares.

The man behind it all, Asefa Dukamo, grew up among coffee trees and started his journey selling cherries on horseback to faraway mills. Frustrated by the lack of local infrastructure, he built his first washing station in 1997. Today, he and his brother Mulugeta run Daye Bensa Coffee Exporters, a powerhouse operation with over 20 washing stations, five mills, and three farms across Sidama.

Their work has transformed the region — improving roads, installing electricity, training producers, and even planning healthcare facilities for farming families. Every bag of coffee that leaves Rumudamo carries that same spirit of community and innovation.

From Cherry to Cup

Only the ripest cherries are hand-picked and delivered to the mill, where they’re sorted by density, sun-dried on raised beds, and rotated every 30 minutes to ensure perfect, even drying. It’s meticulous, manual, and done with the kind of patience that only the world’s best coffees demand.

After around 12–15 days of drying, the beans are hulled and prepped for export — ready to bring that unmistakable Sidama vibrancy to your brew bar.

Why It’s Special

High-Altitude Brilliance: Grown between 1,950–2,330 MASL for maximum sweetness and clarity.
🌸 Natural Processed Beauty: Juicy, fruit-forward, and full of wild floral aromatics.
🌍 Community Impact: Part of Daye Bensa’s “Back to the Community” initiative — real projects making real change.
🔍 Fully Traceable: Straight from Rumudamo Station to your cup — a traceability that was once impossible in Ethiopia.

Taste the Signal

Terence & The Machines — Sidama Rumudamo Edition — is an explosion of tropical fruit and floral funk. Think Dragon Fruit meets Raspberry Yogurt, with a whiff of Jasmine that’ll make you stop mid-sip and grin.

This is why Ethiopia remains the heartbeat of specialty coffee — pure, unfiltered brilliance from farm to cup.
