Beautiful work by a local artist.
The Blackface Mountain sheep descended from an ancient Asian sheep. The sheep were introduced to Ireland after the Great Famine by landlords who owned vast estates in the montains along the west coast. Since then, the unique Mayo/Connemara Blackface has evolved and adapted to the conditions in the West.
