Hi! 👋 I’m Louise, the designer and maker behind Culu Design.
I am an Irish based designer and jewellery artist who has been making polymer clay and beaded jewellery for over twenty years. Inspired by my love of colour, an out of control earring obsession and a desperate need to create.
Each piece is thoughtfully designed and handmade by me, in my home studio in Co. Wicklow. No two pieces are the same, so these are a truly unique and beautiful gift, either to a loved one, or to yourself!
Culu is a collection named after the Irish word for 'retreat’, which, in a sense, is what this project means to me. Cúlú also means recession, which I did not know! On another sidenote, while I was typing this I also stumbled across the following insightful information: culu: meaning, origin, definition; Noun · (slang, vulgar, anatomy) ass, arse, butt, buttocks, bottom · (slang) luck. So there you go, I think it’s pretty hilarious! Do your research before you name your business lads!
